Roger Dubuis Hommage Minute Repeater Tourbillon Automatic (Specs and Price)

| By Brice Goulard | 3 min read |

Watch and Wonders is very productive this year. We’ve already introduced you the Panerai Radiomir 1940 3-Days Automatic with Panerai’s first micro-rotor movement and the Richard Mille RM 57-01 Tourbillon Phoenix and Dragon. Now, it’s the turn of another highly interesting manufacture, Roger Dubuis, to come with a stunning watch, bringing a minute repeater and a flying tourbillon, with an automatic movement, always adorned with the Geneva Seal (as the rest of their production). Welcome the Roger Dubuis Hommage Minute Repeater Tourbillon Automatic.

Roger Dubuis is the only manufacture that is able to have a collection entirely adorned with the Geneva Seal, a warranty of a very high level of finish and precision. And not only they can proud themselves to have superbly finished timepieces but we’re also talking about very complicated ones. Recently, we reported you about the Pulsion Skeleton Flying Tourbillon, a watch proving that sports and Haute Horlogerie are not necessarily separated, or the Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon with Hand-made Guilloche Dial, presented this year at the SIHH. In order to please its Asian customers, the manufacture is now presenting a new edition in the Hommage collection during Watch and Wonders (the Hong-Kong watch fair), a minute repeater with flying tourbillon (the brand’s speciality) and an automatic movement.

The Roger Dubuis Hommage Minute Repeater Tourbillon Automatic comes with a 45mm case made of 18k pink gold – a material that is also used for the main plate of the movement, the guillooché central dial, the minute chapter ring and the hands. The dial is partially skeletonized, showing some the technical elements. First, a 5.30, you can have a view on the one-minute flying tourbillon. As it’s not enough, Roger Dubuis chose to expose some of the levers and gears that actuate the minute repeater mechanism. Something that should be quite intriguing to see.

All the mechanical elements that you can see on the front (as well as the ones on the backside) are hand-finished, polished, grained, angled… well, they are coming with a great attention to details. The RD104 movement itself is made of 434 parts, ticks at 3Hz and boasts 60 hours  of power reserve. Alongside the chiming feature, that is of course a pure horological pleasure (despite its uselessness in our era of modernity), the Roger Dubuis Hommage Minute Repeater Tourbillon Automatic has a very attractive winding mechanism. The movement relies on two micro-rotors, instead of a full-sized rotor or a single micro-rotor. What is the purpose? Well, it will for sure deliver more power to the barrels. But it is also a demonstration of the strength of Roger Dubuis’ watchmakers. It may not be essential, but so are the tourbillon and the minute repeater. Haute Horlogerie is not useful, essential or rational. It is however a source of dreams and a laboratory for advanced technologies. And this is what the Roger Dubuis Hommage Minute Repeater Tourbillon Automatic is.
