Yesterday many vintage pieces where sold for record prices at a dedicated Jaeger-LeCoultre auction in Paris. We went to Paris to bring you some live photos of the most important timepieces of the auction. Will this set the new bar for vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre watches?
In total there where 565 lots, all Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces including a very rare Reverso with a blue dial, reminding us of the limited to 50 pieces Grande Reverso Email Dial. Many rare pieces…including the first ever produced pocket watch with perpetual calendar in stainless steel… but no normal stainless steel.
This vintage Reverso from 1933 (est. € 8,000-12,000 Euro) fetched no less than € 48,200 Euro! A record price and having seen this piece myself I must say it looks absolutely fabulous! Another Reverso from 1936 with blue dial and steel bracelet (est. € 8,000 – 12,000 Euro) was sold for € 43,209 Euro. Looks like Reversos with a blue dial are popular.
Let us show you some of the pieces we got to see at Artcurial Auction House in Paris. Among them some very beautiful Revero models. Like this one with a red laquer dial and dating back to 1931.
This Reverso with red laquer dial was estimated between € 5,000 – 8,000 Euro and sold for more than double the highest estimate, € 17,851 Euro. Another Reverso from 1931 and with red laquer dial, (est. € 5,000 – 8,000 Euro) was sold for € 28,052 Euro.
My favorite of the vintage Reverso models was one with a brown chocolat dial that was made in 1940. The final bid was more than three times the highest estimate (est. € 5,000 – 8,000 Euro) and it sold for € 26,139 Euro.
The results for Deep Sea and Polaris watches showed the interest on the part of the collectors and after the launch of the Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea earlier this year, we think it’s no surprise these models did so well.
The dial of the Memovox Deep Sea with European dial has faded to light brown, but this looks very nice for a vintage watch from 1959. It was estimated between € 15,000-25,000 Euro and sold for € 48,200 Euro.
This Memovox Deep Sea with US dial, also from 1959, was estimated at € 15,000-25,000 and sold for € 42,000 Euro.
Although this Polaris (from 1968) didn’t do that well, I think it’s the most beautiful of this vintage dive watch trio. Estimated at € 15,000-20,000 and sold for € 30,000 Euro.
Last but not least. In fact this piece fetched the highest bid during the Jaeger-LeCoultre Unique Auction in Paris. The first ever made stainless steel pocket watch with perpetual calendar.
A pocket watch with perpetual calendar is rare and especially in a good condition like this one, it’s quite rare. Usually pocket watches with an expensive movement, like a perpetual calendar, always had a case of gold or platinum, never stainless steel. This is the first ever produced pocket watch with perpetual calendar in a stainless steel case, but it is no normal stainless steel. The steel used is so-called STAYBRITE Steel, that was also used for time-only pocket watches from IWC and Patek Philippe.
Estimated at € 50,000-80,000 Euros and sold for € 87,800 euros.

Hi, Thank you so much for sharing the pictures and Data. I was in Singapore recently and was looking for an old buckle and strap for my 1931 Reverso. It is a black dial with only Reverso written on the Dial, which is the one copied by the company in the commemorative ones launched on the 8th anniversary. The watch still works brilliantly. Any ideas on the strap and buckle.
