Video Report – Monochrome at Blancpain Endurance Series – 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

| By Brice Goulard | 2 min read |

Allow us for once to not talk (only) about watches, but instead about also of another, very cool subject: race cars. However, don’t be concerned. What you’re going to see is as exciting as any timepieces. You’re probably aware that Blancpain is the official timekeeper and sponsor of one of the most challenging races, the Blancpain Endurance Series – a GT-car championship with long-lasting rounds. As Monochrome and its video team (PMG Productions) were invited to witness, here is a complete and handsome report of our weekend at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (and no worries, there are also some watches in the videos).

Monochrome at Blancpain Endurance Series - 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

Let’s introduce you the context: A 7km racetrack, in the middle of the Belgian mountains and forests, with superb reliefs and über-technical corners, a.k.a Spa-Francorchamps (one of the most beautiful racetrack in the world, one of the last entirely natural circuits and certainly the favorite of many F1 drivers). More than 50 cars engaged, all based on GT3 standards – stock cars modified, lightened to less than 1.150kg and with more than 500hp engines. A 24 hours race that lasted for 3.750km, mixing professional and amateur drivers. The weather: what Belgian people will call reasonably wet conditions, meaning proper pouring rain. The atmosphere: electric, passionate and close to the public. And in the middle of that, Julien as cameraman and movie director and me, Brice, as watch-lover and journalist. The result: 3 videos to make you re-ive one of the best weekends we had for a long time.

  • Part 1: preparations, pit walk, race grid and start of the race.

  • Part 2: The atmosphere around the track, the Blancpain / Lamborghini lounge and some WATCHES (yes, we know you, you want some – and what we have are not the worst ones, as you’ll see the Bathyscaphe Chronograph Flyback, the L-Evolution Tourbillon Carrousel and the L-Evolution R Chronograph Flyback Grande Date).

  • Part 3: night race, pit stops, on-board shootings, finish-line and podium (and again, a few watches)

And here are a few photos to end up with this report of our weekend at the 24h of Spa-Francorchamps for the Blancpain Endurance Series.

All the videos were directed and edited by Julien Couson / PMG Productions (website here www.pmg-productions.com and on Facebook) for Monochrome-Watches. All these videos can be seen here, on our Youtube Channel. 2015, All Rights Reserved.

  1. Videos have great style. But they don’t have a lot of substance. I’d love to see some actual details about the event, how the watches tie in and the actual racing.
