Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph Steel Titanium

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is one of the watches that I’ve liked since I first saw it. So a post about this watch has been long overdue.

Recently I visted Brussels for a nice weekend and I just happened to walk by a Vacheron Constantin dealer. In the window they had the Overseas Chronograph Steel & Titanium on display, a model that I hadn’t seen or touched so I went in to have a look. Not sure if that was a smart move, because it’s an absolute gorgeous watch and it moved up in the wishlist with lightning speed.

The first models of the Overseas Steel & Titanium collection where launched in the summer of 2009. These where the Overseas Automatic and the Overseas Automatic Chronograph. Both  feature a monochromatic (gosh, I love that word) grey theme with finely brushed stainless steel cases and anthracite titanium bezels. In 2010 Vacheron Constantin launched another model in this collection, the Overseas Dual Time Steel & Titanium.

The Overseas models have a 42 mm large stainless steel case and titanium bezel, that is shaped a bit like a Maltese Cross. The dial is slate grey and the baton shaped hands and hour markers are treated with luminous coating. The  case has screw-down crowns and screwed case-back, which contributes to the water resistance of up to 150 meters or 15 ATM.

The Overseas Chronograph Caliber 1137 has a balance frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, a 40-hour power reserve, and  a large date display at 12 o’clock.

2010 has brought another titanium and stainless steel Overseas model, the Overseas Dual Time. A beautiful watch with great functionality for travelers because it offers two time zones, a day/night indicator, a power reserve complication, and a date display. The Overseas Dual Time has also a 42 millimeters large stainless steel case with a titanium bezel. The pusher is protected with a titanium guard.

The Overseas Steel & Titanium models all come on an alligator leather strap and wear incredibly comfortable on the wrist. The monochromatic grey gives it an ‘understated chic’ look which makes it easy to combine with jeans and suit. If you’re ever close to a Vacheron Constantin dealer, do take a few minutes and check these pieces out!

  1. Hi Frank,
thanks for the great looks at this watch. seems like a fantastic watch to be able to own — I really like these Overseas collection from Vacheron, and now particularly like this one!

  2. Great watch! Much like you, once I laid my eyes on this exquisite piece, I immediately scratched out one from my own wishlist to make room for the VC overseas!

I’m just not sure when but I promise to get one before I die!

  3. @Kyle and Deo… Personally I am moving towards more wearable watches and less big and thick watches. The VC Overseas would fulfill these ‘needs’. It is a lot of money, but for that you get a timepiece of one of the best watch manufacturers in the world. Time to buy a lottery ticket 😉
