Vacheron Constantin Adds Slate Grey Dials to the Traditionnelle Collection

Slate grey and pink gold is a combination that definitely works. Warm, contrasted and highly elegant, this is no surprises that a brand such as Vacheron Constantin, not shy in creating elegant watches, already chose this color scheme in the past. Yet, today, they are pushing it a few steps further, as the Traditionnelle Collection receives the slate grey / pink gold treatment on 6 of its models.

All of these watches share common elements, which define the Traditionnelle Collection: a round stepped case, slim bezel and fluted caseback; a railway-track minute circle, “bâtons de Genève” applied hour-markers and Dauphine-type hands. Whether we talk about the simple manual-winding version of the über-complex Traditionnelle calibre 2755, there’s a clear shared pedigree. These watches are “traditionnelles” in many ways, as highly classical, but not void of elegance… at all. This is now even truer with the new additions, showing a dark grey (named slate) dial with a warm and classy pink gold case.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Calibre 2755 Slate Grey

The Calibre 2755 sums up everything Vacheron Constantin can do in terms of complicated watches. It has to be seen as the flagship watch of the Traditionnelle Collection. After two platinum editions (grey or silver dial) and one pink gold version (silver dial), it will now be available in Vacheron’s signature slate grey / pink gold combination. The watch itself is quite of a package, with the calibre 2755 gathering a tourbillon, a perpetual calendar and a minute repeater with centripetal flying strike governor – and of course, VC’s usual ultra-high-end finishing.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle 14-day Tourbillon

Alongside the 2755, Vacheron Constantin also has a slightly simpler watch in the high-end sub-collection – meaning an already very complex timepiece. The Traditionnelle 14-day Tourbillon might only indicate the time, it sets apart with its superior power reserve of 2 weeks (Approximately 336 hours), thanks to four series-coupled barrels. The movement is of course impressively decorated. After a classical pink gold / silver dial version, it now gains the elegant slate-colored dial.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve

With this watch, we go back on earth, with more “accessible” watches. As indicated by its rather clear name, the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve has 3 complications to display: 2 for the calendar, one for the remaining power of the movement. Behind the caseback is the well known calibre 2475, used in several watches of the collection, with a specific module on top. This new slate grey / pink gold version will sit next to the classical silver dial edition.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Ultra-Thin Automatic

What you see here is the essence of the dress watch: only 2 hands, no extra features, an ultra-thin movement, allowing for a case that is only 7.26mm thick, a modern and rather large 41mm diameter for a respectable wrist presence, and now a combination of slate grey dial and pink gold case, warmer than the existing silvery-white dial. Inside the case ticks an iconic movement, the calibre 1120, which powered many of the 1970s sports luxury watches, including the VC 222. it is here finely decorated, with Hallmark of Geneva certification.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Automatic

Vacheron Constantin’s vision of a practical daily dress watch is the Traditionnelle Automatic. Indeed it combines the comfort of the automatic winding with the presence of a date on the dial, rather useful in a business environment. The date is balanced by a small second dial placed at 9 and the watch has retrained proportions, as only 38mm in diameter and 8mm thick. Inside the case is the calibre 2455, a well known base calibre by VC. It joins already existing yellow gold, white gold and pink gold versions, all with white dials.

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Manual Winding

The last of these 6 new models in the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Collection is the simplest of them all, yet also one of the most elegant. It shares its case with the automatic version, meaning a 38mm diameter, with an even slimmer profile (7.77mm). The dial is balanced and elegant, with only a small second at 6. The sapphire caseback revels a large and well decorated hand-wound movement, the calibre 4400, with 65h power reserve, and the Hallmark of Geneva certification. it will join an already existing pink gold / white dial version.
