Nomos Club Campus Amsterdam Limited Edition by Ace Jewelers
A limited edition watch dedicated to the city of Amsterdam, by Dutch retailer Ace.
Ace Jewelers and Nomos Glashütte have teamed up for the second time to create a limited-edition wristwatch. Their first attempt was a cool Orion watch inspired by art movement “De Stijl” featuring a unique dial with asymmetrical indexes. For their second watch together, the Dutch theme is still present (Ace Jewelers is one of the largest retailers in the Netherlands) and is inspired by the city of Amsterdam. Meet the original, fresh-looking Nomos Club Campus Amsterdam Limited Edition by Ace Jewelers.
The first watch created by Ace Jewelers and Nomos seemed to be fairly straightforward. However, after a closer inspection, it appeared to be quite a clever piece, with its non-standard, asymmetrical indexes inspired by the Dutch De Stijl art movement (with Piet Mondrian as the main representative). This watch, which was reviewed here, now has a successor in the name of the Nomos Club Campus Amsterdam Limited Edition. And as expected from Ace Jewelers, there’s still some Dutch pride in the concept.
This new limited edition is based on the sporty and fresh Club Campus watch – certainly one of the least minimalistic watches in Nomos’ collection, with a more robust case and an asymmetrical layout of the dial (it seems to be a recurring theme for Ace). However, this limited edition differs from the standard edition with its new colours.
The case of the Nomos Club Campus Amsterdam Limited Edition by Ace Jewelers is the same as the non-limited version, meaning a sleek 38.5mm case in polished steel with a bulky bezel and more robust lines. The case remains, as often with Nomos, rather thin at only 8.3mm – which doesn’t prevent the Club Campus to offer solidity and true water-resistance (100m). For this special version, the strap is anthracite velour leather.
Inside the case is Nomos Alpha in-house movement – the first developed by the brand. This rather small but ultra-thin calibre is nicely decorated with Geneva stripes and blued screws, as well as the typically German 3/4 plate. It provides 43h of power and features a stop-second mechanism.
The main novelty for this Nomos Club Campus Amsterdam Limited Edition is to be found on the dial. While entirely black or silver-plated on standard versions, Ace Jewelers here add a splash of colour and a two-tone layout. Indeed, while the dial is galvanized and ruthenium-plated, the small seconds sub-dial is white silver-plated. Also, the hours indexes, with their original combination of Arabic numerals on the upper half and Roman numerals on the other half, are picked out in red with a white outline. The small seconds hand is also painted in red, while hours and minutes remain indicated by rhodium-plated hands with luminous paint. The colours are inspired by the iconic flag of Amsterdam. A similar inspiration can be found on the crown, with three XXX.
The Nomos Club Campus Amsterdam Limited Edition is a limited edition of 75 pieces, only available at Ace Jewelers boutiques and via www.AceJewelers.com. It will be priced at EUR 1,400. More details and orders here, on the dedicated page.

This. Is. Lovely.
Nomos gets it right. Simple, clean lines. The price isn’t too bad either.
The California dial has to be the stupidest idea since Richard Mille. Of course it predates The Tasteless Playboy’s choice by some years but still.

Yes, looks good. Touch too small for me, but I do like the design. Nomos gets it right!
…as for the dial, the fact you could doesn’t mean you should.
