Jaeger-LeCoultre Launches a Care Programme with an 8-Year Warranty on all Watches!

Jaeger-LeCoultre is confident enough in the quality of its watches to offer one of the longest warranties among major brands.

In line with the trend of improving client service, Jaeger-LeCoultre just announced that the brand will offer an 8-year warranty on all watches for clients enrolling in their new care programme. In addition to this extended warranty, the programme will deploy a dedicated digital platform, personalized with value-added information, advice and services. To benefit from these services, customers will be able to register their watches on a dedicated digital platform, as of 15 May 2019. The programme includes in-store services such as functional checks.

Also important as of spring 2019, watches that have been already sold but that are still covered by the original international warranty will be eligible for this 8-year warranty extension.

It is quite a bold statement from Jaeger-LeCoultre, which seems confident enough in the quality of its timepieces to offer an 8-year warranty on all its watches (provided once one enrols in the programme). If the principles of a warranty extension are not a first, this particular warranty sets a new benchmark, being the longest among major watch brands. While this will be truly beneficial for clients, for Jaeger-LeCoultre, it will also be the opportunity to enhance its customer relationship programmes.

The vast majority of brands offer a standard 2-year warranty. In 2015, Rolex strengthened its warranty to 5 years. So did a few brands including Omega, Ulysse Nardin and Audemars Piguet.

  1. So it’s an extension of warranty after filling in some webpage doodah, not an an automatic 8 years when purchasing the watch. That’s great…if it’s a free extension.

    Is it free?

  2. Works well all around, speaks highly with integrity + relationship building with a real manufacture is solid. Congrats JLC, good move!

  3. I have a Christopher Ward watch with 5 years warranty using a sellita movement. I can’t see why everyone can’t offer longer warranties.

  4. It strikes me that this is little more than a marketing exercise. Are they really going to leave a customer out in the cold?

  5. Anyone know if the 8 years travel with the watch to the new owner if resold / bought used? I’d assume so but curious if anyone has confirmed this.
