Hand-on with Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral – Photos, Specs and Price

Today we go hands-on with the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral, which is the brand’s most basic version with their highly interesting in-house movement. It’s more than just a pretty face, as it features an unusual peripheral rotor that allows for unrestricted views of the CFB 1000 movement inside. After our review of the Manero Power Reserve, and that time we explained the peripheral rotor in depth, we now take a look at the Manero Peripheral. 

The Manero Peripheral is a modern sized dress watch with a versatile, contemporary look that is suited to both formal and informal occasions. The well-proportioned, 40.6 mm pink gold case combines clean-cut angles with rounded contours. The tapered lugs with a nice chamfer give an elegant feel. It features a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and it is water resistant to 30m. The crown is engraved with the brand’s logo.

The elegant white dial, with a slight sheen to it, features faceted hour markers complimented with dauphine style hands. The small seconds subdial is slightly recessed at 6 o’clock. The date is shown at 3 o’clock through a black-framed date window, while the brand logo is printed in a gold color across the top of the dial.

More than just a pretty face, the Carl F. Bucherer Manero peripheral is powered by the CFB 2050 caliber, a superb automatic movement with bi-directional winding. Entirely designed and manufactured in-house, it is part of the CFB 2000 family, an evolution of the CFB 1000 series that was introduced in 2016.

Like the CFB 1000, it is a peripheral rotor movement: the movement’s winding mass rotates around the periphery of the movement thanks to small ball bearings. This uncommon, smart solution allows for winding efficiency whilst simultaneously providing an unimpeded view of its refined mechanics through the watch display case back.

Providing further evidence of Carl F. Bucherer’s watchmaking credentials, the movement design feels modern and architectural. It features angular bridges with straight edges that follow three different axes. It is decorated with Geneva stripes, jewel sinks are polished. The barrel has snailing on its cover. The movement is adjusted using the 4 inertia blocks on its balance wheel (unlike the 1000 series, the balance is free-sprung and is not equipped with the CDAS system to adjust the beat and the rate of the watch). The CFB 2000 ticks at 28.800 vibrations per hour for 55 hours of power reserve. It comes with a chronometer certificate.

The Manero Peripheral comes on an alligator strap with a pin buckle, and is also available with a black dial. The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral in pink gold retails for CHF 15.800 Swiss Francs. The steel version is available for CHF 6.500 on leather strap and CHF 6.900 on a steel bracelet.
