F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain, Octa Réserve and Octa Lune get a Gold Dial
Connoisseurs know F.P.Journe for the refined wrist watches with a superbly finish gold movement. Yes, indeed, the entire movement (except for some screws, springs and a other small parts) is made in 18K rose gold. Since 2004 Journe’s watches have been equipped with the iconic gold movements, and although there are one or two other brands who create their movements in gold, Journe was the first and is well-known for this typical property.
Now three models from the F.P. Journe collection will get a gold dial as well. The Chronomètre Souverain, Octa Réserve and Octa Lune all get a gold dial, and we do like the new looks of these three models. The dial features embossed numeral, which are mirror polished, and a very fine grained surface. The new gold dial is available on both the gold and platinum version of aforementioned models. On the rose gold models, the polished hour markers, and thus the entire base dial, is made of the same 18K rose gold as the case and entire movement is made off.
The dials are manufactured in F.P. Journe’s own dial factory, which gives the company more control over production. They start off with a gold plate, 18K rose gold for the gold models, and 18K white gold for the platinum models. The gold base dial will be sanded to perfection, before they add a specific silver layer. That silver layer is what gives the dial a lovely fine grain. The numerals are embossed, and mirror polished. The last phase is to print the rail road minute track and the F.P.Journe logo which requires up to 5 successive layers for a perfect bombé shape.
Completed with the F.P.Journe drop shaped gold hands (matching the dial colour), the models with the new new gold dial will be available at the 10 F.P.Journe Boutiques. That goes for the 40mm version, while the 38mm version is available with this dial upon request. Pricing starts at € 26.800 Euros for the Chronomètre Souverain in gold and goes up to € 46k Euros for the Octa Réserve in platinum. Here at Monochrome we do love the new gold dials, with the recessed sub dials, lovely fine grained surface and the polished Arabic numerals.
