Dutch Brand Fromanteel Launches the Pendulum Blue (Live Pics)

Classic yet youthful... An accessible, Swiss-powered dress watch that now gains in elegance.

Dutch brand Fromanteel is expanding its range of automatic watches, the Pendulum being its first mechanical model, followed by the recently introduced Fromanteel Pendulum Traveller. Certainly not a new watch but an updated version in the existing Pendulum collection by Fromanteel, this blue dial version adds more classy elegance to this already surprising watch. Let’s have a closer look.

Fromanteel is far from a start-up company. Alfredo Silva and Martijn van Hassel (co-founders) have been producing watches since 2009. But the brand has only recently ventured into the mechanical watchmaking trade, with the launch of the Pendulum in 2015. Most of their collections are quartz powered, so in all honesty not something you’ll find on MONOCHROME. The Pendulum and Pendulum Traveller models are however interesting, offering an elegant yet youthful doorway into the mechanical side of watchmaking.

After the launch of the Pendulum in 2015, originally with an off-white ‘Clous de Paris’ style dial, the collection was expanded with the Pendulum Dark, with a dark grey ‘Clous de Paris’ decoration on the dial and rose gold markers and hands. The third edition of the Pendulum features a blue, sunburst brushed dial, that provides a classical look to the watch.

The dial is finished with leaf-shaped steel hands and a slim, straight seconds hand. The matching steel hour markers are applied, with a slightly thicker double marker for 12 o’clock and single markers for the rest. The markers for 3, 6 and 9 o’clock are slightly thicker than the others. A date window at 3 o’clock, displayed with a white wheel and black digits completes the indications.

In terms of specifications for the watch, other than the new blue dial, things remain the same. Still a 42mm wide polished steel case, fitted with an ETA 2824 automatic movement and a range of straps available. The crown, as always with Fromanteel, has a bright yellow bit of lacquer as a decoration, which is matched with a similarly bright yellow lining for the leather straps. A youthful little touch, without looking too goofy as a dress watch. The Pendulum is fitted with sapphire crystals on both front and back of the watch.

As mentioned, it is available with a wide range of black or brown leather straps and also on a Milanese steel bracelet, without extra charge by the way. The Fromanteel Pendulum Blue is slightly cheaper than the previous models, at EUR 999. For more information, visit www.fromanteel-watches.com.
