Czapek & Cie Unveils A Platinum Limited Edition & The 38.5mm Quai des Bergues

The name Czapek came back on the front of the scene in 2015, with the launch of the Quai des Bergues (Read our story about the re-birth of Patek ex-partner here). The watch has been very well received and was even awarded with the Public Prize at Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2016. This stylish 42.5mm timepiece has been offered in different versions and Czapek now unveils a limited edition of 10 pieces in the noblest of metals, platinum and with an engraved case, as well as smaller 38.5mm edition.

The Quai des Bergues N°35 sticks to the most traditional codes of the collection and features a grand feu enamel dial with elongated Roman numerals, secret signature at 7 o’clock and “fleur de lys” blued hands. It is powered by the proprietary movement SXH1, developed with Chronode. This manual wind caliber runs at 21,600 vib/hours and shows hours, minutes, small seconds and the power reserve – a movement that makes the watch runs for 168 hours (7 days).

The Quai des Bergues case has been personalized for this limited edition in platinum. The crown guard is hand engraved with acanthus leaves – a discreet yet distinctive feature that shows a nice finishing.

As hulking-watch fatigue seems to be setting in, smaller diameters are coming in abundance lately – to our great satisfaction. Not to be outdone, Czapek & Cie now releases a new version of the Quai des Bergues sized down to 38.5mm, offering a proportionate, dressier option for smaller wrist or simply if you are tired of large-faced watches. The look remains familiar but the overall balance is slightly changed as the watch is still built around the SXH1 caliber.
