Christie’s James Bond Spectre Auction – Including a prototype of Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre worn by Craig and one of 10 Aston Martin DB10

| By Brice Goulard | 5 min read |

Who never had the dream of driving James Bond’s own car or to play with his own watch (and the related gadgets…)? Honestly, most of us all had this feeling at least once – and we even (try to…) do it ourselves recently. And it will now be fully possible, as Christie’s, the famous auction house, is about to sell several items used in the latest installment of James Bond, Spectre 007. And not just simple accessories, but the Christie’s James Bond Spectre Auction will include (among others) the first prototype of eight Omega Seamaster 300, worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond and yes, one of the 10 actual Aston Martin DB10 cars used to film this spectacular movie. Overview of some of the lots to be auctioned the 18 February 2016, in London.

Christie's James Bond Spectre Auction - Daniel Craig as James Bond

Christie’s James Bond Spectre Auction will include several accessories and items used by actors during the shooting of the latest installment of James Bond 007, including a two-piece dinner suit by Tom Ford, a gold ring worn by Christoph Waltz or the final Legal Spectre Script signed by Sam Mendes. And these are certainly the least interesting lots for us, watches (and cars too) lovers, as the auction will includes several watches, worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond or by Ralph Fiennes as M, and finally one the 10 examples of the custom-built Aston Martin DB10.

We aren’t here talking about one of the 7.007 pieces of the Seamaster 300 Spectre Limited Edition that Omega created and delivered to authorized dealers… It would be way too simple. In fact, the watch you can see up there is one of the eight prototypes that Omega manufactured for the movie, and even if they are identical to the official limited edition, this one has been worn by Daniel Craig while shooting scenes of Spectre 007. And that’s very cool indeed.

We know that watches worn by actors in James Bond Movies are usually fetching high prices during auctions, as we’ve seen recently with a unique Submariner created for “Live and Let Die” and worn by Roger Moore (sold for 365,000 Swiss Francs). Christie’s, in the online catalogue of the James Bond Spectre Auction, sets an estimate of £15,000 – £20,000 (€20,000 – €26,000) and we bet (and hope, considering the charity cause) it could easily be sold for a much higher hammer price. Funds will be donated to UNMAS (United Nations Mine Action Service).

Even with all the respect and love we have for watches, we can’t denied that the highlight of the Christie’s James Bond Spectre Auction is clearly this Aston Martin DB10, a model specifically developed by Aston Martin for Spectre 007. Design-wise, it is a pure beauty. Mechanically, it isn’t bad either, with a 4.7-litre V8 engine (that could be found on the V8 Vantage). This example of the Aston Martin DB10 (N° 10 on 10) will be the only model to ever been offered for sale (and on the 10 cars manufactured, only 3 are still intact, the 7 others DB10 were destroyed on the set).

This example of the Aston Martin DB10 is in perfect driving condition but be aware that  it is not homologated, certified or approved for use on any public roads. This is a real collector’s car, made to be use on track or just to be kept in a collection, alongside several other beauties of its kind. Estimation is £1,000,000 – £1,500,000 (€1,300,000 – €1,900,000). The proceeds of this lot will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières.

Christie’s James Bond Spectre Auction will also includes another watch, this time worn by James Bond’s boss, Gareth Mallory a.k.a M, interpreted by Ralph Fiennes in Spectre 007. This is an elegant 35mm watch – reviewed here – revamping a vintage edition from the 1950s. This example is one of the two watches given to Fiennes during the shooting of the movie, the other is retained by Omega. Estimation of £5,000 – £7,000 (€6,500 – €9,000). The proceeds of this lot will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières.

The ceramic Rado D-Star automatic chronograph worn by Dave Bautista as Hinx

Christie's James Bond Spectre Auction - ceramic Rado D-Star automatic chronograph Dave Bautista Hinx

Another charismatic character of James Bond Spectre, another watch to be auctioned. This time, it will be the Rado D-Star automatic chronograph worn by Dave Bautista as Hinx, one of the villains – and the one racing versus Bond in the streets of Rome, Italy. This watch is part of a second auction, accessible online here (from the 16 to the 23 February 2016). The proceeds of this lot will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontiers. Estimation is £4,000 – £6,000 (€5,200 – €7,800).

An Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre limited edition with personalized engraved message donated by Jesper Christensen as Mr. White

Christie's James Bond Spectre Auction - Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre - donated by Mr White Jesper Christensen

This watch is part of the the 7.007 pieces of the Seamaster 300 Spectre Limited Edition that Omega created. However, it is not a simple one. At the end of filming Spectre, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli gifted this watch to Jesper Christensen who plays Mr. White – a character whose story began in Casino Royale, 2006. This watch is number 0462/7007 and its caseback is inscribed “Jesper Love, Michael and Barbara”. The proceeds of this lot will be donated to the Danish Refugee Council. Estimated at £7,000 – £9,000 (€9,100 – €12,000).
