5 of the Coolest Bronze Watches of Baselworld 2019

Bronze watches have developed into a major trend over the past few years. A tough and strong metal, bronze lends itself perfectly to robust watches. Most importantly, it offers something different, a burst of colour that changes over time with the unique patina developing randomly on the surface of the metal. And if you’re bold enough to go for this material, here are five of the best bronze watches released at Baselworld 2019.

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Green Bronze

If the BR 03-92 Diver Green Bronze is not the first version of the Bell & Ross square dive watch to be fashioned out of bronze (already available with a brown colour scheme), it distinguishes itself from previous models with its new olive-green dial and bezel. The robust 42mm x 42mm case features a 60-minute rotating bezel with an anodized aluminium insert in matching colour. This rugged watch is released in a limited edition of 999 watches and will be available later this month.

Meistersinger Metris Bronze

Meistersinger stands apart through its singular way to display the time, with single-hand watches (so-called mono-aiguille). At Baselworld 2019, the German brand introduced bronze editions of several of its most successful watches, including one of the vintage-inspired Metris. This new model’s sunburst dark-blue dial displays the date at 6 o’clock with a cyclops. The multifaceted case is 38mm in diameter and water-resistant to 200m. The automatic movement inside is visible via the exhibition case back. A brown calfskin strap completes the look. A cool sporty version of the single-hand concept, which looks great with this new material.

Oris Divers Sixty Five Steel and Bronze

If you are a fan of two-tone watches, the Oris Divers Sixty Five now comes in an original mix of materials, steel and bronze, for the case AND the bracelet! One of the reasons for this unusual combination is that Oris wanted to offer a bi-colour watch at an accessible price. 40mm in diameter, the Oris Sixty Five comes with a glossy blue dial with applied indexes and hands. It is powered by an automatic calibre displaying the hours, minutes, seconds and the date. Clearly, this two-tone steel-and-bronze theme fits the cool 65 quite well.

TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph Bronze

TAG Heuer is launching a new Autavia, one of the brand’s iconic 1960s watches. Introduced as a three-hander, the design of the 2019 Autavia relies on some of the early Autavia chronographs blending it with “a modern adventurous spirit.” The watch incorporates some of the latest TAG Heuer technical developments. Its COSC-certified automatic movement features the Isograph carbon-composite hairspring. The bronze version of the Autavia comes with a brown gradient dial and a rotating bezel fitted with a ceramic inlay.

Tudor Black Bay Bronze

The third bronze version of the iconic Black Bay comes in a 43mm case with a unidirectional bezel featuring matte aluminium insert. Protected under a domed sapphire crystal, the slate-grey gradient dial is a superb match with the matte bronze case. This handsome retro-inspired three-hander is powered by the in-house calibre MT560 complete with COSC certification. The watch is delivered with a nubuck leather strap or a fabric strap.
