| By Xavier Markl | 3 min read |

Blue is the new black at Zenith. Over the past few months, the manufacture has released a series of hot blue dial watches that would lend themselves to both formal and casual occasions. Five iconic models are celebrated in a whole new light and provide a great alternative to the ubiquitous black or white-dialed watches.

Zenith El Primero 36’000 VpH

A favorite among Monochrome’s team, the splendid El primero 36’000 VpH was originally presented in 2013 and has now been made available in blue. The new blue sunburst dial is accented by the trademark three counter colors and the red chronograph second hand. At the heart of the 42mm steel case beats El Primero with column wheel, horizontal clutch and running at 36’000 vibrations per hour. Introduced in 1969, the iconic Zenith movement is the first integrated automatic chronograph.

Zenith Elite 6150 and Elite Chronograph Classic

Understated elegance highlighted in deep blue. Combining the functionality and style of great watchmaking classics, the new Elite models (read our in-depth review about the collection here) are now fit with intense blue sunburst-finish dials and matching alligator straps. Both dials are slightly curved with baton-shaped markers which emphasizes light effects. The two models come in 42mm cases and are powered respectively by the new 6150 automatic movement and a bi-compax version of the El Primero Chronograph.

Zenith El Primero Chronomaster: open-hearted variations

The ‘open’ concept was launched by Zenith in 2003 and has become a signature for the Le Locle manufacture. The sporty and technical El Primero Chronomaster now comes in two blue-dialed versions. One has tone-to-tone counters while the other boasts two-tone white and charcoal grey counters. The cut-out in the dial lets you see the beating-heart of the El Primero movement running at 36,000 vph and housed in a dynamic 42mm steel case with domed sapphire crystal and mushroom pushers.
